Contemplating Climate Change: A Bird Walk and Meditations on Governors Island

We invite you to join us for a unique and meaningful day on Governors Island. Timed to coincide with the UN's Summit on Climate Change that begins a few days prior, there will be an engaging program of activities, meditations, discussion and fellowship, addressing our climate crisis from scientific, psychological and contemplative perspectives.

$25 flat fee.
SchedulE:
11:00 — Arrive at Climate Museum, House 18 in Nolan Park; there will be introductions and a brief meditation on the lawn. (Note: no cushions can be provided for meditation, bring your own if you wish.)
11:30 — Bird Watching Walk with an Audubon Society guide. If you have binoculars, please bring them; if you do not, they will be provided.
1:00 — Picnic Lunch on the Parade Ground behind the Climate Museum, BYO or food can be purchased at food trucks there.
1:45 — Dharma talk by Roshi Enkyo O'Hara, Abbott of the Village Zendo, followed by meditation.
2:15 — Presentation(s) on climate-related developments in current scientific/psychological work.
3:15 — Silent Walking Meditation to Outlook Hill, with brief concluding service.
4:00 — Ice cream and conversation.
